Similar to a calling card, Peanuts LD allows you to make calls through a local access number or an 800 number. It has no monthly fees, and you don't have to have a long distance carrier if you don't want to pay monthly fees. You sign up online and can buy up to $50 worth of minutes each time you recharge. There are no monthly fees, no connection fees (except with pay phones) and no hidden charges.

To sign up for Peanuts-LD is very simple. You will be asked to give your name, phone number, and credit card information. You can buy between $20 and $50 worth of minutes to start.

You are assigned a pin number when you start based on your phone number. You can also save a number as Service phone numbers (=ZipDial) so that you don't have to dial a pin number each time you call. For instance, when I call from my house, I just dial the Local Access number and it recognizes my number and says please enter the number you wish to dial. In the account screen, you can change these numbers the way you want to. You can also tell it whether or not you want your balance of money or minutes reported every time you call. For instance, you can set it to use it from your home without telling your balance at all, but to tell you how many minutes you have left when you use it from home. This is good if you use it at a pay phone.
